2. What CAN’T I Eat?

There are several types of fasts to choose from. Complete – Partial – Juice – Daniel. Depending on the type of fast that you choose you may have to adjust your schedule to reduce the physical strain on your body. If attempting a fast that significantly reduces your nutritional intake, you should heavily consider limiting your physical activity. No sense collapsing while on a fast.

“Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day.” – Esther 4:16

Remember that its not the type of fast that really matters, but rather the personal sacrifice of the person fasting. If only eating vegetables is not really a huge sacrifice for you (especially if you’re already a vegetarian) then you should absolutely try something more difficult. Its all about how much of an offering it is for YOU. Choose a type of fast that feels like a sacrifice because in that sacrifice you will certainly draw nearer to God.
