3. The Daniel Fast

The Daniel Fast

This form of fasting has received the most attention from the body of Christ over the last several years. The Daniel Fast gains its name and fasting technique from chapter 10 of the book of Daniel.

Daniel was troubled about not knowing the meaning of a vision that he had. Daniel went into a state of “mourning” or “fasting” for three entire weeks.

“In those days, I, Daniel, had been mourning for three entire weeks. I did not eat any tasty food, nor did meat or wine enter my mouth…” Daniel 10:2-3 (New American Standard Bible).

The Daniel Fast consists of only eating fresh fruits, vegetables, and legumes for 21 consecutive days. It offers your body an opportunity to cleanse itself from the toxins accumulated due to its inability to properly digest and expel the waste obtained from eating from meats, sugar, additives and other sources of toxicity.
